Tunnel Signage
web1.jpg
Passcomm in conjunction with Spie WHS have developed a range of products for the Tunnel environment. Exit Signs, Central Envelope, Tri Signs and Running Man exit signs, together with all
the control panels associated with complex SCADA systems used to run and maintain the safe Traffic Management of the Tunnel.

All materials used are selected in full consultation with the client, Stainless Steel, Powder Coated mild steel and Low Smoke Zero Halogen high impact Glass reinforced polyester. Signs can be either wall mounted or recessed in Tunnel reveals.

Passcomm have designed the enclosures and all internal circuitry including SCADA monitoring internal to the closure.

Signs can come with Fluorescent lights with low power, long life LEDs and internal enclosure battery back up on each fitting or fed back through an external UPS. LEDs have 50,000 hours continuous use, vastly reducing maintenance requirements and tunnel closures.

Passcomm engineers will visit the site to ensure local conditions are included in the designs, assess local power requirements and manufacture to a schedule to minimise the tunnel disruption.

Enclosure have been independently tested by a NAMAS accredited test house, Cape Engineering who have performed IP testing to IP 65 / 66 , copies of the certification are available.

The finish of the sign is the clients choice, Powder Coated, Painted, Bright Stainless, or brushed stainless. Running man sign colours are to the relevant specification as is the character height and Font.

Passcomm can overcome local difficulties in lighting, when ambient light does not allow the distances on the sign to be clearly visible, a “mirrored” finish was applied to the sign which allowed the distances to become visble in the event of a tunnel incident.
Factory Acceptance Testing is carried out routinely to determine that all connections and circuitry are fully functional when tested in conjunction with the PLC, in both analogue and digital circuits. Continuity and
visible checks are carried out in house to verify all circuit integrity.

In house testing units are developed to individually test each sign, confirming all SCADA functions operate correctly, saving site time.
Current sensing relays can be included to allow central monitoring back through the SCADA network of any light failure.

Variable Message Signs, VMS control boards are designed manufactured and tested in conjunction with Spie WHS, all signs are FAT tested.
