Standalone Repeaters/Regenerators/Waveshifters
Extend the reach or add WDM capability. 100Mb/s to 10Gb/s client side interfaces are regenerated/waveshifted onto a line side channel with an uncompensated reach up to 200km (3600ps/nm). The optional line side tunable laser provides full C-band coverage. All units are protocol independent and fully meet relevant Ethernet, Fibre Channel and SONET/SDH standards with non-intrusive overhead monitoring and optional G.709 FEC support. These modules re-time, re-generate and re-shape the optical signal for increased reliability. Ideally suited to concatonated payloads, the unit is 1U high and is designed to be mounted in a 19" rack, driven from a -48V DC power supply. The A1020 modules enable the OTN (Optical Transport Network) by supporting the G.709 digital wrapper. The OTN "wraps" a client signal into it's own payload and uses it's management overhead for monitoring and error correction when transporting a signal across the network. The client signal transparency is preserved and performance monitoring is provided. A1020 provide OTU2 line rates. The A1020M is a multi-rate transponder which supports all 10Gb/s protocols including those with FEC (Foward Error Correction). Protocols may be switched via the software control. Remote provisioning is via an SNMP interface with local management via the craft port, which is an RS-232 asynchronous interface.
In terms of environmental operating conditions, all devices are fully compliant to Bellcore NEBS (GR63), TR-NWT-0000-63 and ETSI ETS 300-19-1. In addition, EMI/EMC performance complies with FCC part 15 Class A, UL950, CE GR-1089 and ETSI EN50082-1
Chassis based Repeater/Regenerator/Waveshifter modules
A full range of modules for use in the A2050 and A2500 chassis. Extend the reach or add WDM capability to pluggable client side interfaces (SFP), onto a long reach line side channel. Pluggable line side (SFP or XFP) or tunable interfaces are available with reaches up to 200km (3600ps/nm). All units are protocol independent, fully compliant to the relevant Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SDH or SONET standards. AM2552, AM2554 and AM2556 modules may be used as an APS (Automatic Protection Switch) and also provide full CALEA (Communcations Assistance for Law Enforcement Act) listening capability. AM2554 can also operate as an 8 x 8 4Gb/s switch. AM2556 can operate as a 6 x 6 10Gb/s switch. AM2550 and AM2580 modules enable the OTN (Optical Transport Network) by supporting the G.709 digital wrapper.
