Automatic Protection Switch Module
A protocol independent switch module which is installed in
the A2050 or A2500 chassis. The unit transmits on both output fibres and
listens on one fibre. If the signal on the operational fibre falls below a
specified threshold, the unit automatically switches to the other fibre without
disturbing other devices in the network.
System management is via the AM2502 controller card,
remote provisioning is via an EMS/SNMP/Telnet interface with local management
via the craft port, which is an RS-232 asynchronous interface. Alarm
thresholds can be set for each port, with revertive or non-revertive operation
and manual switching via the controller card.
